Leading up to the April 25th improvisational performance, Deeply Discounted II/Sequences of Snow, at TAS - we are going to introduce you to the two artists gracing our workshop for this one of a kind performance.
First up is Ken Vandermark. Vandermark is a Massachusetts native and will be coming home for this special, one-time gig. A fixture on the Chicago-area music scene since 1989, Vandermark is a jazz composer, saxophonist and clarinetist. He has earned wide critical praise for his playing and his multilayered compositions, which typically balance intricate orchestration with passionate improvisation.
He has led or been a member of many groups, including the Fourth Stream while an undergraduate at Montreal’s McGill University, Lombard Street and Mr. Furious in Boston, and the Joe Harriott Project in Chicago. These are just a few of the many groups Vandermark has been a member of. He has since collaborated extensively with other artists.
Vandermark has numerous albums to his name, the most recent of which - Deeply Discounted II/Sequences of Snow - will be featured at TAS on April 25.
The Deeply Discounted II/Sequences of Snow event will take place at The Alternate Space located at 125 Walnut Street, MA 02472. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
